Leaving…

I slowly let my body stretch as I become aware of my senses. My room is cool. I quietly sneak out of the covers and downstairs. The morning is beautiful. The fog has covered the lake entirely. The purple hue that touches the sky and fades up to pale orange is breath taking. Frost clings to the grass. Covers it. Protects it until the sun rises. I think about tomorrow. The task before me. Scripture pops into my head. I will go before you. I will hold Ayden asking the God I serve to protect and keep him. I will hang onto that hug a little longer. I will wipe the tears from my eyes before I let go. Be strong in the Lord and never give up hope. I will tell him I love him as I look into those beautiful, emotional eyes. I will kiss his sweet little lips as our noses touch and then smile. My sweet boy. I will stand up and look at my husband. Our eyes will say more than our mouths ever could. The hug between us will be intimate and emotional. I will take his embrace as strength for my journey. I will feel his lips softly kiss my neck as I bury my head in his shoulder. He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it. I take a deep breath and let go. Time to be brave. I will watch Jake pick up Zayne for a big hug. A huge smile will be on my husband’s lips as tears gather in his eyes. I’ll watch as Zayne places his little hands on Jake’s cheeks, trying to squish them like his dad does to him. I will hear his gruff giggle. Jake will put him down and tousle his hair as Zayne walks to me with his big man shoulder raised. “Take care of your mom, ok?” “Yup….I will.” I’ll hear Zayne say in his macho voice. Ayden will watch me intently the whole time. “One more hug mom” Ayden will say as he wraps his arms around me and reaches his lips up for a kiss. I will tell him to be big and that I want to hear all about school and dad and his adventures. I will swallow the lump in my throat and take my little one by the hand and walk to our plane waving goodbye to the other half of my world. Peace, Be still. The Lord will fight for you; you need Only Be Still. I breathe a small prayer that angels go with my husband and son. As we board the plane I see Gods loving Angels surround it. We are covered. Time to go. They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they will mount up with wings as eagles!
